Interest rates are now higher than traditional homes because they are more risk, harder to sell and don't last as long. If you're planning to buy soon, go talk to TWO mortgage bankers or brokers and get pre-approved for your price range. Then, go "house hunting" without a real estate agent and find a house you like in your price range. Negotiate everything from the price of the house to the fees you have to pay at closing. Ask more questions on this Yahoo site and learn more about how to negotiate the price of a house and closing fees/closing costs. Get an agent only if you believe you really need one.
