Install Laminate Floor Over Marriage Seam Of Modular Home??

Hello, I want to install laminate flooring. I have a modular home (I plan to tear out the carpet). I cannot feel anything obviously uneven under the carpet. I am wondering if I will have a problem with where the marriage seam is. My home is on a full basement with all the reinforcements (metal pole thingy’s). It has been here for 2.5 years, so hopefully all the settling has been done. Any advice? And I have been thinking about Toklo 12 or 14 mm. Anyone hear of that or use it?

I have never heard of Toklo 12 or 14 mm, but I can tell you that I think Pergo is the best!! I put it down in my living room and dining room and it held up perfectly. I had three doggies and it did not scratch or anything.
I had a different brand of laminate flooring (Shaw) put down in my whole house when I moved to a new house and it was a mistake. I would NEVER use anything but Pergo again.
Pergo has been around the longest, so it stands to reason that they have ironed out all the “kinks” and have the best product.

I haven’t used or heard of Toklo. you’ll have no problem with installing th flooring in your home. I would just make sure that I ran the flooring across the joint long ways instead of length way of the joint. Since it doesn’t matter which direction you install floating flooring.

I have installed Pergo without any problems, but I have also seen bad installations of the same or similar products. Laminate flooring is very stiff and should not be installed on uneven surfaces although you can put it down over small cracks, gaps or indentations. Don’t forget to leave expansion space all around or it may buckle up. For more detailed information check this website:http://www.doityourself.com/stry/freeflo…
    Good Luck!

as long as the marriage seam is flush with each other you shouldn’t have a problem. as for the type of flooring, do you glue the laments or do they lock when hooked together.
make sure you buy the pad that goes under the flooring if required. If the flooring has an aluminum clip channel hooked to the underside I wood think twice about that type because the aluminum and lament flooring expand and contract at different temps and than they could work against each other causing squeaks in the seams.
