Can I Find A Good Modular Home Builder That Specializes In Energy Efficiency Or Even Solar Paneling In Alabama?
Birmingham / Gadsden / Anniston / Huntsville areas. I looked at All-American homes but they don’t have anything close by. I have been talking with Clayton Homes, but they seem to have mixed reviews online and don’t specialize in anything like that. Thanks.

With the rising cost of electrical bills, there are many different ways for alternative homemade energy so that you can provide your own electricity. The 2 ways that I highly recommend is through DIY solar energy and wind energy. Such renewable sources are economical and environmentally friendly to tap on.
For the DIY solar energy, you can easily install a solar panel to obtain the energy to power your household needs. And such homemade energy solution is not difficult to build. In fact, you can find the materials in any hardware store down the streets. They are inexpensive also; you can easily buy them for less than $200.
An alternative homemade energy that you can consider during cloudy days is the wind energy. During days like this, your DIY solar energy would not be able to provide you with much energy. And you can consider building your very own windmills in your backyard. And the cost of building a windmill is even cheaper than the solar panels. And with the right guide, you can easily build both and get started with generating your own electricity.
Such DIY solar energy and windmills are easy ways for you to tap on the natural resources. In fact, you can play your part in saving mother Earth by not using too much coal energy. Such homemade energy is the best method for you to save money.
In fact, if you are good at generating homemade energy with DIY solar energy and windmills, you can even generate extra energy which will flow back into the grid. And your electrical company is actually obliged to pay you for generating extra energy for them!
Now you can build your own home-made wind generator or solar powered panels following a simple step-by-step guide with everyday materials and save hundreds of dollars on monthly power bills and help the environment.

It’s my opinion only but I’ve just seen homeowners who either built their own home (because they were contractors, and were rich plus had discounts for what products they used) or updated older homes with solar and such. But I don’t know that it has been any specific contractor that has done this for people (not unless those specific contractors who built their own homes decided to do other peoples homes). Those homes are super expensive and are considered investments and not just regular homes so people determine what they want and then do for themselves.
There are places where you can buy the solar panels and install them yourself, and those are starting to come down in price. As far as energy efficiency is concerned you can install or have installed insulation in your roof and walls (be careful what product you use in there and make sure you leave some air in between) and there are out now energy efficient appliances (like dishwather, stove, frig, water heaters). Seems to me, or at least the last time I saw solar paneling being sold it came from Michigan. see http://www.modulartoday.com/AL.html

Try Redman homes on the web. We have a Redman home and are very satisified with it. Not sure about your area, but it don’t cost anything to look on the web.

Contact contractors in your area. Ask them if they have built modular homes before and if they know of green modular manufacturers. Then get referrals.
